Welcome to our humble home, a testament to the wonders of a mid-life crisis. Who on earth decides to become a game developer in their forties? Only an idiot that’s who.
I find modern smartphone games disengaging. They don’t offer an experience. Immersion is lost due to the constant stream of ads that are fired at you, meaning that you never stay long enough in a world to find that beautiful mindfulness that gaming on other devices can offer.
It is for all intents and purposes a difficult balance to strike. Nearly four decades ago I fell in love with gaming because it was an escape. It allowed me to go to a different place, to feel like someone else, in the same way that a great book can. And in the last few years I have realised that I am missing that feeling.
So I decided to teach myself to make games. Games that will try to grab your imagination and pull you in. Games which you don’t need a degree in astrophysics to understand. Games that you give five minutes or two hours to, to escape from reality. And most importantly games that are immersive, that allow you to suspend your disbelief, and hopefully give you a few minutes grace in the space of an anxious day.
There we are. There’s my pitch. All I have to do is back it up. I currently have four games in testing. The one nearest to ready can be found on the games menu above. There will be announcements regarding the others in due course. From time to time I will post shoutouts here for beta testers, random gamedev experiences, and hopefully some thank yous for playing my games.
In the meantime, be kind to each other. And have a great day.
